AmA coordinator details

Overview

The purpose of AmA’s on ykyz is to bring in new users to be part of the audience for an AmA. We hope they stay on and contribute to the ykyz community.

As an AmA coordinator (AC), you have three main roles:

  • Recruit interesting, high-profile guests to do AmAs
  • Help guests through the process
  • Make sure that the guest has a significant audience for their AmA

Every one of these tasks is vital. See below for more details about each one.

Recruiting

Your role is to find interesting guests. We prefer guests who have done something extraordinary, and who have a significant following on social media. For very high profile guests, we may offer a financial incentive for appearances (see Payment details below).

We understand that recruiting A-list guests may be difficult at first, so your role as an AC is to leverage existing and scheduled guests in order to level up. You must be comfortable with pitching potential guests at increasing levels of fame, and of promoting their appearances as broadly as possible.

Helping guests

In order to ensure a smooth and valuable AmA, we have developed a detailed checklist to be followed, with items like practicing conversation with your guest on a hidden channel. As AC, your role is to work with the guest to make sure these items are completed in a timely manner before the AmA begins. The checklist also contains some followup items after the AmA is complete, like thanking the guests for their time.

During the actual AmA, you will be expected to be online to help with any issues that come up.

Ensuring an audience

Ensuring an audience for an AmA begins by picking the right guest. We will assist with promotion in some ways, like tweeting about the upcoming AmA. But the majority of the effort to promote falls on the AC, by a combination of choosing a guest with a built in audience, making sure the guest tells their followers about the AmA, and through the AC’s own direct efforts to promote the guest appearance.

Payment details

  • Base pay is $25 per guest appearance
  • Fame bonus is based on the maximum of the following
    • Followers on Instagram
    • Followers on Twitter
    • Followers on LinkedIn
    • Subscribers on YouTube times 3 (every YouTube subscriber counts as 3 followers)
  • If the maximum is above 2k, the total fame bonus is $10. We rarely want to have on guests who do not have a following of at least 2k on a social media platform.
  • If the max is above 10K, total fame bonus is $20. We would like most guests to have at least this level of following.
  • For max above 50k, bonus is $30.
  • For max above 200k, bonus is $50.
  • For max above 1million, bonus is $100. Depending on the guest and their willingness to promote ykyz to their followers, we may consider an incentive for the guest themselves to come on.
  • In addition to the fame bonus, we offer two recruitment bonuses related to the AmA appearance:
    • A temporary recruitment bonus of $1 per new user who makes their first post to the guest’s AmA. This bonus is capped at $60.
    • A recruitment bonus for new users who are retained of $4 per user who is active (Bleating) on our site on the 7th day after the appearance (eg if the AmA was Thursday, if a new user posts the following Thursday, they are considered retained). This bonus is capped at $240.
  • As with Cast of the Week competitions, we plan on awarding at least one prize related to AmA appearances

Example payment calculation one

As an example payment calculation, imagine your guest is a YouTuber with 4000 subscribers. During the AmA, 15 new users show up to ask a question of your guest or reply to someone else’s question. A week later, 4 of those users are still active on ykyz. Your payment for this guest appearance would be:

$25 (base pay) + $20 (fame bonus, since YouTube subscribers count at 3x) + $15 (new user bonus) + $16 (retention bonus for 4 users) = $76.

Example payment calculation two

Your guest is an instagram influencer with 250k followers. During the AmA, 300 new users show up to ask a question of your guest or reply to someone else’s question. A week later, 35 of those users are still active on ykyz. Your payment for this guest appearance would be:

$25 (base pay) + $50 (fame bonus) + $60 (new user bonus, as cap was hit) + $140 (retention bonus for 35 users) = $275.

Payment schedule

All ykyz payments go out on Fridays. Payment for your AmA work will go out on the first Friday after we have been able to verify how many new users were retained (one week after the AmA date).

Payment caveats

To get paid, your guest must publicize their appearance to their followers, and, of course, actually appear and answer questions. We expect guests to answer questions for at least 45 minutes.

We expect the guest’s following to be real humans (not bots or paid-for fakes). If we believe the actual number of the followers for this guest is much lower than shown, we will notify you within two days to discuss whether the AmA should still go forward.

As noted, we have a checklist to ensure that appearances go smoothly. These items are required, and timeliness matters. We consider appearances to be like rocket launches. If something goes wrong or a checklist item isn’t completed on time, we will delay or call off the appearance.

Any attempts to “game” stats related to bonuses, such as directly paying people to post questions during an appearance, are strictly prohibited and will result in forfeit of all payments.

Payment and job details are subject to change, but any guest appearance scheduled under a set of rules will be completed according to those rules and payout schedule. Any guest scheduled for more than 2 weeks out is considered a provisional schedule, with final confirmation happening 2 weeks before the appearance.
